Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Examinations: Every thing we do starts with a thorough physical exam. Whether for sickness or wellness an examination will tell us volumes about your pet. Since most pets age approximately seven years to our one, health issues can change dramatically in a short amount of time.
Vaccinations: Vaccine protocols are changing. We are still recommending annual exams and vaccinations that are appropriate for the well being of your pet. Type and frequency of vaccination will be based on your pet's age, lifestyle and risk of exposure to infectious disease.
Our In-House Diagnostics includes all of the following:
-Blood analysis: In house complete blood counts, chemistries and electrolyte results can be available within 30 minutes for our seriously ill patients. These stat results will affect your pet's health by getting the correct treatment started quickly. For all surgical patients we run a pre-anesthetic panel to help minimize the risks of the anesthetic to your pet. We will not take risks with your pet. Knowing that major organ function is within normal limits helps us plan for a smooth surgery and quick recovery.
-Heartworm and Intestinal Parasite Tests: Heartworms (a blood parasite) are transmitted by mosquitoes and are very common in this area. A simple annual blood test will determine your pet's heartworm status and if positive a treatment regime will be discussed. Intestinal parasites are diagnosed by microscopically examining a fecal sample. These parasites include hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, coccidia, and giardia to name a few.
-Radiology: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs which have the ability to expose, develop and interpret xrays in a matter of minutes will allow us to work quickly towards managing pain and determine a plan of treatment for our patients.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. From routine spays and neuters to more complicated exploratory surgeries we take every precaution with your pet. Starting with an exam and pre-surgical blood work, to using Isoflurane (a very safe gas inhalant anesthetic), respiration and blood pressure monitors, your pet's condition is our first concern. Using the most modern equipment, your pet's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Hospilization: In cases of serious illness or injury, hospitalization may become necessary. Your pet's condition is our first concern. Whether monitoring IV fluid pumps or observing the patient for pain management our trained nursing staff will make sure your pet is comfortable and getting the treatment he or she deserves.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. Whether a routine dental cleaning or one involving extractions these anesthetic procedures will be performed with your pet's health in mind. By ridding the mouth of bacteria based plaque, it will enhance the general health (and the breath!) of your pet. We do this by starting with ultra sonic scaling, polishing and fluoride treatments and finishing with at home dental care which we will discuss with you.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification.
